Meat the Future panellist
Former MIA Scholar
Harriet Watson grew up on a farm near Darfield and has always been passionate about understanding where food comes from. While her interest in the industry stems from her farming background, she is also passionate about story-telling and communications and particularly helping consumers to understand the journey from farm to final product. As a consequence, she studied Agribusiness and Food Marketing at Lincoln University looking to develop the skills and tools in order to contribute to taking the New Zealand story to the world. She completed her studies in 2020.
Harriet was awarded a Meat Industry Association Scholarship in 2018 and was appointed as a Sales Executive – International Trading at ANZCO in 2020. This role involves trading with customers in the South East Asia and Middle East markets.
Harriet says “Working in the meat industry has given me an opportunity to gain experience and understanding of the bigger picture and issues such as global trade pressures, logistics challenges, the impact of the USD. I am passionate about sharing premium New Zealand products with people around the world, and I feel like there is plenty of opportunity to do so in my role at ANZCO.”
