Charles Taituha brings a breadth of experience to the red meat sector. He has previously worked as a Principal Advisor for Te Puni Kōkiri’s Whenua Māori programme but also has skin in the red meat game as a Trustee of the 80,000 stock unit, 8000ha Tiroa E and Te Hape B Trust farms near Te Kuiti and a shareholder of many other Māori land entities across the motu. In 2019 Charles was an International Beef Alliance Future Leader, representing Beef+Lamb New Zealand at the International Beef Alliance Annual Conference in Brazil.
Charles grew up in Piopio, in the King Country, and has been involved in every aspect of the red meat sector since he left school. This has included farming in his own right on leased land as well as being involved with both industry and government. Charles is passionate about building sector capability and attracting young people into an industry he says is “crying out for people who can bring technological skills and a fresh perspective to the red meat sector”.
