Andrea Vance is a senior journalist at Stuff. Born in Northern Ireland, she worked in the Press Gallery at the New Zealand Parliament for nearly a decade, first with Stuff and then TVNZ.She spent seven years as an investigative journalist with the News of the World and was night news editor at the Scotsman.
She was a Jefferson Fellow at the East West Center in Hawaii, and has been named Reporter of the Year, Political Reporter of the year and Wolfson Fellow at the Canon Media awards. Andrea is a finalist in four categories at the 2021 Voyager Media awards. She has a weekly political column in the Sunday Star Times.
In 2019, Andrea travelled to Henderson Island in the South Pacific to produce the interactive series Desert Island Dump. She also reported from South Sudan for Hope in Hell, made with support from NZ on Air. She is currently working on a series on New Zealand’s biodiversity loss, also supported by NZ on Air.
